That's a good letter, Lee, even if I don't fully agree with all of it. Let me know if you get any kind of actual substantive response. I wrote a number of incensed letters like that to politicians supposed to represent my interests. I got form letters from Jim Gerlach, Arlen Specter and the insufferable Rick Santorum. Escalating my furor in response didn't do much either. It's truly discouraging.

But I wish you the best. Keep me posted.

Only two sitting Senators - Warren G. Harding and John F. Kennedy - have become President in the last 100 years. I don't know that being in the Senate for a long time makes you qualified to do anything. And if you dislike the government so much, why would you want someone who has been in government for a long time?

I think the idea that he's being propped up because he's black is absolutely ludicrous, unfounded nonsense. Why in God's name, in a country where people who agree with many of his policies would never vote for him because of the color of his skin, would some evil genius install him as a puppet? And really, picking someone with the middle name Hussein - pure brilliance. A regular Karl Rove must be running the show. (Oh but did you hear he's a Muslim who will turn over the keys to the White House to the highest bidding Al-Qaeda member?)

He graduated first in his class from Harvard Law, and he didn't get in because of a trust fund or legacy. And he didn't pass because his name was Bush (or McCain). He's actually an intelligent, thoughtful person who surrounds himself with intelligent people with whom he would generally agree and others with whom he would generally disagree, just to have all perspectives.

But I'll grant you this - he's a politician, and just like any politician, he can be a man of pragmatic expedience when it suits him. You don't get elected if you're not. I don't like it either, but that's how it goes.

And I don't agree with everything in his voting record or every one of his positions. When I find a politician who believes everything I do, I'll be sure to vote for myself.

And as for point 3), we've had enough conversations about libertarianism versus liberalism at this point. But you know where I stand.

I agree with most of the second and third paragraphs. 2 out of 3 ain't bad ;-).

I can't even tell you how much I love battle-rapping. It takes me back to the days of battle-rapping Rob at his graduation party and playing bass for a battle rap at the Wagontown Fire Hall.

If only I could come up with rhymes that don't sound like cheesy hallmark card poetry.

Point noted, though I'm confused as to what you took as "serious" in my previous post? If you have a sense of humor, you could've overlooked my use of a "serious" tone. ;)

Cheers!
